The internet is a wonderful thing and all that, but I still need magazines to get my fill of inspiration and a healthy dose of relaxed exploration. Ideally, that would require a magazine within arm's reach of the sofa and a leisurely read with my feet up on an ottoman. It also means that the entire house is strewn with magazines and newspapers.
So, magazine storage is a major issue. In addition, the storage unit needs to be easy to move around, sometimes even from room to room. Portability is often a major factor. Which is why I love magazine totes. They are elegant and can be placed virtually anywhere. Moving furniture and cleaning are not issues that need to be addressed with the convenient tote. They can also be segregated into different categories (it works for a while, and then it's all chaos again). But that's ok. I haven't even got to the books yet !!!
Here are some of my picks.
Stlykist has this lovely black and white faux leather tote, with an MDF base. Really elegant and quite reasonable as well. Great for the living room.
The Maison Georgette etincelle with the metallic silver lining is an absolute must have. I found them at Illico Design. Tres maginifique !!!
I also love the ladybog red wicker tote from LL Bean
The white faux leather Crate and Barrel I found at Design Milk. It is so elegant.CB has some nice ones in rattan, too. I also love the suede one at Gift Baskets by Vivian
The kitschy retro blonde pinup tote is great too. It just needs the right kind of space :) Found at plasticland. On the other side of the spectrum is a Kate Spade poppy tote I found at Luxist .
