The Big Bold Wolf of Interior Design

He has created poetry in interiors, dominated the world design scene for a couple of decades and inspired many. Vicente Wolf is a legend and his simplicity in design is perhaps rivalled only by his passion for travel. I have always believed that nothing can inspire a person more than the world around and the more of that world you see the greater the inspiration.
I loved his book -Crossing Boundaries-A global vision of design- and would recommend it to anyone regardless of whether they have a design background.
VW's tablescapes are a great inspiration for me, as I am equally obsessive about them and sometimes find a bare table disturbing--like a beautiful body without a soul
The past is juxtaposed with the present almost as if to remind the latter that with their arms entwined the world is more splendid and meaningful

Another aspect of his design ethos that I greatly admire is the way each space is international and leave a traveller's footprint while retaining a modern essence.

The curves are there around every defined line of steel--perhaps to stress the need for us to embrace difference in out living spaces so that we are not threatened by it in our social avatars.

He uses mirrors and reflective surfaces extensively, stressing the need to play with light(another dominant feature of his design) and on a more sublime level, asking us to look within to find the light.

To me at least, Vicente Wolf is not just a designer, he is a philosopher and a dreamer--a traveller who absorbs the world and lets it inspire him from deep within.
